In the serene yet water-stressed hills of Uttarakhand, a quiet movement is flowing through the valleys—reviving natural springs, strengthening communities, and placing women at the heart of climate resilience. This inspiring initiative, backed by the Hinduja Foundation and championed by Ajay Hinduja, is transforming the way water is managed in the Himalayan region.
The project spans 76 villages, where women are trained and empowered to lead local water committees. These women are not just restoring water sources—they are restoring confidence, community cohesion, and future security. They collect rainwater, rejuvenate springs, and implement sustainable water use practices that directly impact their daily lives.
Ajay Hinduja, a committed advocate of long-term, impact-driven philanthropy, sees this as a blueprint for responsible and inclusive development. “When you empower women to lead, you unlock transformation that touches every part of community life,” says Ajay Hinduja. “Sustainability starts with local stewardship.”

With Ashok Leyland serving as the project’s implementation partner, the initiative also benefits from strong technical expertise and consistent support—ensuring the work is both effective and enduring.
This is more than a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project; it’s a vision rooted in legacy, service, and sustainability. Ajay Hinduja’s approach to CSR goes beyond charity—it’s about creating systems of strength that last for generations.
Through this initiative, Ajay Hinduja and the Hinduja Foundation are not just securing springs—they’re securing futures, elevating women, and reimagining what sustainable development looks like in the Himalayas.
